SHREWSBURY – Hungry residents weathered the thunderstorm and headed to Oak Middle School for a food truck festival on Friday. There, they spent time with friends and neighbors and indulged in delicious food.

Superintendent of Public Facilities and Parks Angela Snell said she organized the event because the Food Truck Thursdays, which are held at Town Hall, are popular with residents.

So, she decided to expand the event.

After Snell spoke with some of the vendors, they said they would be willing to participate in a food truck festival.

“It’s important for the community so they can see their friends and neighbors, get out of the house and they don’t have to cook,” Snell said.

Shrewsbury resident Tom Kiser and his family are regulars at Shrewsbury’s food trucks and have been enjoying them all summer long.

“I have a couple favorite food trucks. I start at Say Cheese and then go over to Charlie Dogs,” Kiser said.

The Kisers came to support the food truck vendors and interact with their neighbors.

Say Cheese was a hit with the Kiser family. Colleen said the truck is “absolutely” her top choice.

Tom discussed the importance of the Shrewsbury community hosting an event like this for residents to be able to come together.

“This is our hometown, so most of these people we know because we’ve seen them before,” he said.
