Roland J. LaferriereAuburn – Roland J. Laferriere died Saturday, August 12, 2022, with his wife by his side. He was 83.

He leaves his wife of 35 years, June (Bryan) Laferriere; sons James Laferriere, of Uxbridge; John Laferriere, of Connecticut; and Bruce Laferriere, of Webster; a daughter Linda Laferriere, of Connecticut; two step-children; Lisa Goyer and her husband Richard, of Worcester and Mark Derie, of Webster; his sister Lorraine Marchand and her husband Howard, of No. Grafton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his daughter Susan Shenian.

The only son of Joseph M. and Bernice (Boulais) Laferriere, Roland, “Jap”, was born in Worcester, May 1, 1932. He lived in Grafton until moving to Auburn in 1985. He worked at the Standard Foundry, in Worcester for 29 years until it’s closing, then worked for the former Steel Craft, in Millbury, until he retired.

Roland loved camping, going to the Rhode Island beaches and Hampton Beach. In his younger years, Roland enjoyed motorcycle riding. He was a life-long Red Sox fan and would often sit in his backyard while listening to games on the radio. He and June enjoyed many New England bus tour trips together and liked to explore yard sales searching for Native American artifacts. He especially loved hosting cook outs and pool parties for his family at his home; time with family was his great joy.

Calling Hours from 9:00-11AM are Thursday, August 18 at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st St., Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
