Lillian J. KaneWorcester – Lillian J. (Flanagan) Kane, 102, of Worcester, formerly of Marlborough, died Sunday, Aug 21, 2022 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Michael F. and Lily (Beausoliel) Flanagan.

She was predeceased by her husband William P. Kane, her brothers Francis Flanagan and Robert Flanagan, and her sister Mary Louise Rossi.

Lillian was born in Marlborough, MA, where she graduated from Marlborough High School.  She attended cosmetology school in Boston and then worked at the former Charm Shop in Marlborough before going into manufacturing assembly at Raytheon in the 1960s. Lillian then became employed at Data General and was considered a pioneer employee, badge number 78.

She started as an electronic assembler, moving to the stock room where she later became supervisor until her retirement in 1985.

Lillian earned her driving license at the age of 66, following the passing of her husband, and she did not stop driving until she was in her early 90s.  She was an avid bowler and continued to participate in candlepin bowling well into her mid 90s.  In her later years, she enjoyed playing Bingo and Rummikub with her friends at Tantuck Park.  She enjoyed taking trips, especially to wineries with her granddaughter.  She loved sports and hardly ever missed a game of the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lillian is survived by her son, Edward F. Kane and his wife Linda of Greensboro, NC, and her daughter, Kathleen Johnson of Worcester, MA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jill Clark and her husband Courtney of Greensboro, NC; Lisa Bandsuch and her husband, Michael and his son Nicholas of High Point, NC; Jeffrey Kane and his wife Karen of Westminster, MA; Caitlyn Gentilucci and her husband Jared of Rutland, MA; Melissa Rodriguez and her husband Andrew of Rutland, MA; and Ashley Johnson of Worcester, MA. She is also survived by her 5 great-grandchildren, Cailin Clark, Connor Clark, Kyleigh Kane, Emma Rodriguez, and Liana Rodriguez.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant Street, Marlborough, MA 01752. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Matthias Church, Marlborough, MA. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlborough, MA.
