SHREWSBURY – Break out your scarecrow because Scarecrows on the Common is returning.

The Shrewsbury Garden Club will be once again sponsoring the 18th Scarecrows on the Common. This year, individuals, groups, businesses and clubs are encouraged to create and place their scarecrow on display beginning on Sept. 17.

Participants are responsible for the installation of their scarecrow. No poles will be provided.

The name of the individual or group must be on the scarecrow, and because the scarecrow will be outside for an extended period of time, no perishable goods like pumpkins and gourds are permitted.

Scarecrows should not be attached to the bandstand, memorial, newly planted trees or lampposts.

After it is installed, participants should call 508-845-2630 or email [email protected] to register their contact information.

Scarecrows must remain on the Town Common through Oct. 14, and any remaining after Oct. 16 will be discarded at the owner’s expense.

For more information, call 508-845-2630 or visit http://shrewsburygardenclub.org/spirit-shrewsbury-scarecrows-common/.
