SHREWSBURY – The Shrewsbury Police Department is responding to a crash involving a school bus.
About an hour ago, Shrewsbury police posted on Facebook that South Quinsigamond Avenue was closed between Ridgeland Road and Oak Street.
Shrewsbury police urged drivers to seek an alternate route.
In an email to Shrewsbury Public Schools staff and families shared with the Community Advocate, the district said that the bus was unoccupied at the time of the crash, which took place near Coolidge Elementary School.
The district said that because the section of South Quinsigamond near Coolidge was closed, there will be delays for buses and traffic. Among the delayed buses include all those that serve Coolidge and buses 7, 19, 20, 22, 33, 34 and 60.
At the scene near May Street, there was a SUV with damage to the front of the vehicle. The bumper was nearly detached from the SUV.
An A.A. Transportation bus was on the sidewalk and had damage to the front portion.
As of about 1:30 p.m., crews were still responding to the crash.
