Hudson – Dennis L. Knecht, 72, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at his home.  He was the beloved husband of Vera M. (Hall) Knecht, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on October 6th.

Born in East St. Louis, Illinois on May 30, 1950, he was the son of the late Virgil and Eleanor (Steinberger) Knecht.  He received his education in the Belleville, IL school system.

He entered the United States Army in November, 1970, and served eight years as a Military Policeman, receiving two honorable discharges, and leaving the military in October of 1978. Within the eight years he served, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he made friends with the local people who took him fishing in the surrounding villages.

Dennis loved being an artist and several of his paintings were displayed at the capitol building in Boston, at many local businesses, and in the Hudson Town Hall. Several local newspapers featured articles about his art and passion for painting. He also loved fishing, bowling, darts, and watching Red Sox and Patriots games.

In addition to his wife Vera, he is survived by a sister, Donna Patterson and her husband Robert of Millstadt, IL, and a brother, Terry Knecht and his wife Jeanne Phivan of Iowa City, IA, a sister-in-law, Sherry Letendre, and a brother-in-law, George V. Hall III, both of Hudson, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was the son-in-law of the late George Jr. and Lillian Hall, and brother-in-law of the late Steven Letendre.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Dennis’ life at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant Street, Marlborough, on Wednesday from 4 to 6 PM, followed by his Funeral Service at 6 PM. Interment will be private.

Funeral services are under the direction of Morse-Bayliss Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Boulevard, Lowell, MA 01851.
