Kathleen R. TortoraNorthborough – Kathleen Regina (Dunn) Tortora, of Northborough, MA, formerly of Mahwah, NJ, passed away at the age of 71 years on October 23, 2022, and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Kathleen was born in Suffern, NY and raised in Mahwah, NJ, a daughter to the late Oliver W. and Estelle “Jeanne” (Courtney) Dunn. She was also preceded in death by her Stepmother Ruth Christman Marcotte Roosa Dunn. Kathy was a 1969 graduate of Mahwah High School and for 51 years was married to the love of her life, Thomas Anthony Tortora.

Kathy was a woman of Faith and attended Grace Church in Hudson, Mass. where she also was an active member in a number of Bible study groups. In her spare time, Kathy was an avid reader and researcher, and was involved in several activities and programs at the Northborough Senior Center, as well as events in the Birchwood community where she lived, and community suppers at various area churches. She enjoyed cheering on each of her grandchildren at their sports and school activities; visiting with her granddog Jake and grandcat, Pumpkin; and playing board games with family and friends. She loved being spoiled by her husband, daughter and son-in-law. She was an HGTV junkie and like to organize, maintain and establish new routines, habits, goals and systems. Prior to retiring in August 2016, Kathy worked as an executive secretary and Transportation Coordinator in the Superintendent’s office of the Ramsey Board of Education in Ramsey, NJ for 32 years.

In addition to her husband Tom, Kathy is survived by her daughter, Monica (Tortora) Akus and her husband, Jason Akus of Southborough, MA and her grandchildren Kiera and Benjamin Akus; her siblings: Jeanne Dunn of Longwood, FL, Michael Dunn and his wife Pat of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; Margaret Benson of Hamilton, NJ; Patricia Ann DeLeau and her husband John of Springfield OR. Kathy is also survived by her step-siblings: Richard Marcotte, Barbara Ann Roosa McCausland; Robert Roosa; Jennifer Roosa Doyle; and Philip Roosa; her sister-in-law Jacqueline Scharff and her husband Dr. Nicholas Scharff of Wynnewood, PA and her six nieces and nephews.

Kathy touched so many lives and will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She cherished the moments she shared with those she loved and had so much gratitude and courage to share. A calling hour will take place between 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. A 10:30 a.m. funeral home service will immediately follow. Kathy then will be laid to rest in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
