Donald I. ThurberNorthborough – Donald I. Thurber, 83, of Northborough and formerly of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband to Joan M. (Thomas) Thurber.

Born in Worcester, he was a son of the late William Sr. and Bertha (Richards) Thurber.  He was raised and educated in Westborough and was a graduate of Westborough High School.

Prior to his retirement in 1997, he served as a police officer for the Town of Westborough for 27 years. After retirement he enjoyed having time to travel and having more time with his family. He also was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Laurie Gaudette and her husband Michael, of Northborough, Linda Posterro and her husband Jay, of Sutton, and Donald Thurber and his companion Lynn Carmichael, of Sutton, his siblings, Joyce Hackett, Kenneth Thurber, and Gerald Thurber, his grandchildren, Heather Gaudette, Daniel “DJ” Gaudette, Nathan Posterro, Haley Thurber, and Matthew Thurber, and his cherished great-grandson, Bowen Gaudette.  He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, James Thomas and his wife Louise and Stanley Thomas.

He is predeceased by his siblings William Thurber, Jr. and Carolyn Chouinard.

Calling hours will be held from 10 AM to 12 Noon on Saturday, November 5, in the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main Street, Westborough. A brief remembrance service will take place at 11 AM to reflect on Donald’s life.
