WESTBOROUGH – The future of the former Regal Cinemas at 231 Turnpike Road will be announced this week.

The Select Board is scheduled to award a bid during its meeting on Nov. 2.

During the Sept. 6 meeting, the board heard three proposals for the site, including a beehive business center for local entrepreneurs, a revamped entertainment center and a proposal for 108 condo units.

The movie theater was built in 1997 and sits on a 29.34-acre site off Route 9. It abruptly closed over four years ago, prompting a search for the property’s owner.

The town had acquired the theater earlier this year by foreclosure, and in the spring, Town Meeting voted to transfer the property to the Select Board for its disposal.

Since the meeting regarding the proposals for the site, the board has been discussing the possibilities in executive sessions.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. in the Great Hall, Forbes Municipal Building. The Select Board is scheduled to discuss the award for the Regal Cinemas site at 8 p.m.

Additionally, the board is scheduled to discuss Westboro Mobil’s Class II license, the acquisition of 0 Ruggles Street and a special Town Meeting.
