Shrewsbury – Martha A. Gallagher, 65, of Shrewsbury, died on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home after an illness.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Paul B. and Grace E. (Burns) Gallagher, and she was longtime Shrewsbury resident.

She was a graduate of the Boston College School of Social Work and received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work in 1985. Prior to her Master’s, Martha graduated from the former Marian Central Catholic High School in 1975, and received her undergraduate degree from Assumption College in 1979.

Martha devoted her clinical social work practice to the care, treatment, and recovery of her patients at Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital, formerly Worcester State Hospital.

She leaves her brothers, Paul M. Gallagher, of San Antonio, TX, and Andrew M. Gallagher, Sr. and his wife Bonnie, of Shrewsbury; her much-loved nephews, Timothy, Daniel, Andrew, Jr., Sean, Matthew, Stephen, and Robert; her cherished niece and Goddaughter, Dianna L. Johnson – they were all the greatest joy and pleasure in her life. Along with her parents, Martha was predeceased by her brother, Philip A. Gallagher.

She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church (https://stmarysparish.org/weshare).

A Memorial Mass for Martha will be announced in the coming weeks. The Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
