Alfred H. GiancolaMarlborough/St. Petersburg, Fla. – Alfred “Fred” H. Giancola, 88 of Marlborough and St. Petersburg, FL died at his home in Marlborough on Friday, December 23, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Marlborough, MA, the son of the late Ignacio and Odil (Brazeau) Giancola. Fred graduated from Marlborough High School, Class of ’52 and was inducted into Marlborough High Sports Hall of Fame. He earned his Associate’s Degree in Business from Newbury Junior College.

Fred worked for Eversource for over 25 years retiring in 1997 and served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary I. (Comerford) Giancola of Marlborough, 2 daughters, Ellen M. Menna of St. Petersburg, FL, Kerry Emich and her husband Brad of Townshend, VT, his son, Jamey Giancola and his wife Alyse of Marlborough, 2 grandchildren Angela and Jake Terrio, a brother, Francis Giancola of Marlborough and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Fred was predeceased by a grandson, Max Terrio, his brother, Berardino Giancola, 2 sisters Marie Grecci, Elaine Shortsleeve and his son-in-law, Raymond Menna.

Fred was a member of the ITAM Post 45 and a Life Member of the Elks.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 4-7 p.m. in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main St., Marlborough, MA.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday December 29, 2022, at 10 a.m. in St. Bernadette’s Church, 266 Main St., Northborough, MA.

Following cremation, burial will be at a later date.
