Douglas R. PhillipsSouth Grafton – Douglas R. Phillips, 23, of South Grafton passed away peacefully and unexpectedly in his home on Thursday, December 22, 2022 after a lifelong battle with Marfan’s Syndrome.

Dougie was born in Worcester, son of his loving parents, Justin and Jennifer (Santimore) Phillips. He is also survived by his two brothers, Gregory Q. Phillips and Jeffrey A. Phillips of South Grafton; his maternal grandmother, Patricia (Devine) Santimore of South Grafton and countless, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He graduated from Grafton High School in 2017 and had worked at Goretti’s Supermarket in Millbury since he was 16 years old. Dougie had a large group of friends that he interacted with on a daily basis while he was doing one of his favorite hobbies, online gaming.

When he wasn’t working as a produce clerk at Goretti’s, Dougie loved to spend time with his cousins and most of all his two brothers. Family meant the world to him and they will cherish the memories that were made, especially when they were watching a fireworks display celebrating the Fourth of July.

Dougie may have been diagnosed at a young age with Marfan Syndrome, but he never let his heart issues hold him back. More importantly he enjoyed listening to others and helping them. Although Dougie was not personally affected by suicide, he always took time to listen and help others that were going through a difficult time in their life. To honor the life and legacy of Dougie, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the SHINE Initiative 44 Portland Street Worcester, MA 01608.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 28 from 5 to 8 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street Worcester.
