Janice PlaceMarlborough – Janice (Fair) Place, 76, of Marlborough passed away December 25, 2022. She was born May 22, 1946 in Waltham, MA to James and Ruth (Perkins) Fair. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Robert Ira Place. She is predeceased by her brother James Fair of Sandwich, MA.

Jan was a stay-at-home Mom when her children were young and raised them with love, dedication, imagination, laughter and fun. She later started a career at Bose corporation where she cherished her supervisor role in the mail room. She made strong connections with the people she worked with and friendships that lasted to the end. Jan retired early to start her favorite role of all – being nanny to her grandson, Liam. There was never more joy in a person than when Jan was with her grandbaby.

Jan was always more concerned with others than with herself. She smiled through pain and fear to make sure those around her would be OK. She never complained or expected anything. She was kind to everyone she met and went above and beyond to help whenever she could. She met the world with a smile no matter what and found the good, the fun, and the silly in everyday life. She loved her family more than anything else and gave everything for them. She was devoted and faithful to her husband for 54 years and was heartbroken when she lost him. She cherished her children and made every holiday and birthday special. She was there for the big things and the little things and made even ordinary days extraordinary. She was over the moon for her grandson and spoiled him every chance she got. She loved us all so fiercely – our hearts are shattered but her memory will live with us forever.

Janice is survived by her loving and heartbroken children, Derek Paul Place of Marlborough, MA, and Robin Sue Place of Hudson, MA and her grandson, Liam Place of Hudson, MA. She also leaves behind her Cape Cod family – sister-in-law Eileen Fair, her niece Heather, and her nephew Jim; the large family she was blessed with when she married Robert – brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews; and her friends from Bose.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2022 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Duckett Funeral Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janice’s memory to your favorite charity. Janice was very generous and donated to almost everyone that sent an envelope to her address. There is no bad choice.
