SHREWSBURY – First responders are currently responding to an incident on Lake Quinsigamond near the Kenneth F. Burns bridge.
Local fire departments deployed boats and appeared to be searching the lake late this afternoon.
According to Officer Chief of the Worcester Fire Department Daniel O’Neil, the department deployed two search boats and four divers who are searching Lake Quinsigamond for a man who may have gone into the water between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. this morning.
O’Neil said the individual left a note written in Portuguese. Additionally, his family has not heard from him.
“Hopefully we don’t find anything,” O’Neil said.
Meanwhile, fire trucks and police were also on the scene with officers directing traffic. Photos from the scene showed at least one lane of traffic on Route 9 was closed at the time.
