R. Scott O'BrienShrewsbury – R. Scott O’Brien, 70, of Shrewsbury, beloved husband and devoted father, passed away in his sleep on December 29th. He was known for his kindness, sense of humor, and love of family.

Scott received his B.A. in History with a special interest in African history and the U.S. Civil War. He worked for years at Spag’s in the hardware department, before moving to various roles in information technology systems and management. In free time he enjoyed Strat-O-Matic baseball and fantasy sports. Scott had a special fondness for Cape Cod, where he spent many happy times enjoying the beach and seafood with his family.

Scott was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey, his mother Evelyn, and his father John. Scott will be deeply missed by his wife Marilyn J. (Skow) O’Brien of Shrewsbury, MA; daughter Dr. Jill Eshelman and her husband Eliot, his two grandchildren Anders and Audra, and granddog Enkidu, who all reside in Quincy, MA.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a celebration of Scott’s life at Salem Covenant Church, 215 East Mountain Street, Worcester on Wednesday, January 4th at 11am.
