HUDSON – The Hudson Community Food Pantry is partnering with the New England Chapter of the Travis Manion Foundation for a Ruck March starting at American Heritage Museum and ending at the food pantry at 28 Houghton St.

The drive will take place on Saturday, Jan. 21, as part of the Day of Service to honor the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Pack a backpack or rucksack with nonperishable food items, which could include flour, sugar, breakfast cereal, instant oatmeal packages, canned soups, tuna, meals in a can such as pasta, instant potatoes, peanut butter, jelly, shampoo, soap, toothpaste or snacks.

Then head to the American Heritage Museum for a meetup at 9:45 a.m. From 10 to 11:20 a.m., participants will walk 3.8 miles to the food pantry, followed by lunch at the food pantry from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Participants will then carpool back to the museum for a tour from 1 to 3 p.m.

This will be a rain-or-shine event.

The foundation develops programs, training opportunities and events designed to empower veterans and families of the fallen, and then inspire them to pass on their values to the next generation and the community at large.

This event is open to anyone who would like to participate. You can either join in the walk or be part of the cheering squad to welcome the walkers to the pantry.
