SOUTHBOROUGH – Residents along Pine Hill Road in Southborough are without power this morning.

According to National Grid’s outage map, the outage is affecting 155 customers stretching along Pine Hill Road from Parmenter Road to just past Clemmons Street.

The Southborough Fire Department first cautioned about the outage about 14 hours ago, writing on Facebook that there were multiple trees, wire and utility poles down on Pine Hill.

About two hours later, the department reported that they extinguished a transformer fire, and their engines and cars had cleared the area. At that time, National Grid crews were working to restore power. However, the road was still impassable.

At about 9 a.m. on Feb. 4, the Southborough Police Department cautioned that Pine Hill was still closed as crews worked to clean up the road.

“We are expecting that the power outage in the Pine Hill area will last throughout the day,” the fire department wrote just before 10 a.m. “Fire and police crews are in the area available to assist residents as needed.”

Police said the fire department was working with the town facilities department to open the Southborough Library early to serve as a warming center.

The library will be open today until 5 p.m.
