NORTHBOROUGH – At the 131st Annual Professional Photographers of America (PPA) Conference on January 23 in Nashville, Tenn., Northborough photographer Susan Ogar of Susan Ogar Photography was awarded a Masters in Photography degree. Ogar was one of only 88 recipients nationwide.
According to a press release by the PPA, Ogar was awarded this degree “in recognition of her superior photographic competence demonstrated through photographic competition, advanced education, and service to the profession.”
In an interview with the Community Advocate, Ogar said she was “super excited” to receive the award.
“I had been working towards it for a while… so I was excited and proud [to receive it],” she said.
The degree is just the latest of Ogar’s numerous awards. According to her website, she was the 2022 PPA Bronze Photographer of the Year, placing third in the International Photographic Competition. Ogar is also certified to work with children and adults with disabilities through the Hearts & Lens organization.
“I love the art aspect [of photography],” Ogar said. “When I first started doing it as a teenager, I was doing mostly fine art and landscapes, and I didn’t know that I would love to work with people. Doing it now as a business, I absolutely love the people part of it; working with families and high school seniors and getting to know their stories and then photographing them.”
