Port Charlotte, FL – James E. Higgins, 81, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Marlborough, MA, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was the son of the late Sadie and Thomas Higgins of Newtonville, MA. He was predeceased by his brother, Francis, and his daughter, Lynne Turner.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Jane Bouvier Higgins, and his children, James Higgins Jr. (Jennifer) of Marlborough, MA and Kevin Higgins (Patricia) of Framingham, MA and 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Thomas Higgins (Roberta) of The Villages, FL.
Jim proudly served his country in the US Army in the early 1960’s. He worked as a supply-chain executive at several high-tech companies, including Honeywell, Prime Computer and Bose Corporation. For recreation, they owned a vacation home on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH where he enjoyed boating.
After retirement, Jim and Jane moved to North Fort Myers where he continued with his passion for boating with the Old Bridge Yacht Club. He was an avid fan of New England sports and had season tickets to the Red Sox Spring Training. Later they moved to Port Charlotte, FL, where he switched his passion to golfing. His biggest anticipation of turning 80 was to be able to move to the front tees at the King’s Gate Golf Course. He was a member of the Elks, Moose and The American Legion.
