Paul I. GoodhueNorthborough – Paul Irving Goodhue, 78, of Northborough, MA, died February 19, 2023, following a period of declining health.

Paul was born to the late Paul and Pauline (Cadorette) Goodhue on October 8, 1944 in Framingham, MA. He grew up there and graduated from Framingham High School in 1962. Paul served in the Navy from 1963-1967. Paul was employed by Stop and Shop until his retirement in 2007.

Paul married his wife Betsy (Barrows) in 1973. They raised their two sons Michael and James in Northborough.

Paul enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing and sitting outside in his yard across from the pond reading a book. He was a fan of Nascar racing and would watch any type of sports game on TV. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Myah and Zach, and never turned down a meal. Earlier in his life Paul was active in the United Methodist Church of Westborough, participated in the Appalachia Service Project several times, and travelled to Israel with a church group in 1994.

Paul is survived by his wife Betsy, his two children Michael and his wife Mary of Athol, MA, and James and his wife, Meg of Marlborough, MA, his grandchildren Myah and Zachary, his nieces Denise Murphy and Melanie Dunlap-Viera, and nephew Jeremy Dunlap, along with several great nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his parents Paul and Pauline, and his sister, Paulette (Goodhue) Dunlap-McNelly.

A service of remembrance will be held at the Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St, Northborough on Thursday, March 2 at 11am with burial to follow at Howard Street Cemetery. A time to visit with family will take place prior to the service, between 10:30 and 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northborough Food Pantry, 37 Pierce St. Northborough, MA 01532. Paul’s family would like to thank the staff at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center for the care they provided to him.
