Marlborough – Thelma C. (LaCouture) Bertonassi, 98, of Marlborough, died Monday, March 6, 2023, at The Reservoir Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Marlborough, MA.
She was the daughter of the late Napolean and Nellie LaCouture and wife of the late Carl Bertonassi. She was predeceased by her brother, Dana LaCouture, her sisters, Geneva LaCouture, Viola Rougeau and Dorothy Dube and her great grandson, Michael Sullivan.
Born and raised in Marlborough, Thelma worked for the City of Marlborough, retiring after 31 years as the Tax Collector and the Treasurer for the city.
Thelma enjoyed knitting, spending time with her family and the time in Dennis on Cape Cod and Vero Beach, FL.
Thelma is survived by her daughter Teresa Sullivan of Northborough, MA. and her sons, Paul Bertonassi and his wife Kim of Marlborough, MA and Mark Bertonassi and his wife Laura of Hudson, MA. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, from 9:00 – 10:15 AM at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA 01752. A funeral Mass will be celebrated following the visiting hours at 11:00 AM at St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main St., Northborough, MA 01532. Burial will follow at Southborough Rural Cemetery, 11 Cordaville Rd., Southborough, MA 01772.
