Charlotte CaponeShrewsbury – Charlotte Capone, 81, of Shrewsbury, Mass, passed away on March 22th surrounded by her family after years of living with Alzheimer’s.

Charlotte was born on June 4, 1941 to Charles and Angelina (Amorosi) Iacoboni in Leominster, Mass. She attended Leominster High School, during which time she met her eternal love, Walt Capone, who was working hard at Dairy Queen. After graduating from Leominster High School in 1959, she went on to earn her B.A. in Education at Fitchburg State University, graduating in 1963 – the same year she and Walt were married.

After graduation, she began her career as an elementary school teacher in Gardner. Soon after, she and Walt were off to California where they had their first child, Lisa, and their second child, Gretchen.

Charlotte and Walt returned to Massachusetts in 1969. Having had their third child, Gregg, while living in the South Shore, they settled in Shrewsbury from 1973 to 2000 to raise their family.  For many years, Charlotte taught at Boylston Elementary School – usually teaching the fifth grade.

In 2000, Walt and Charlotte moved to Dennis, Mass where they lived for 20 years.  There, they enjoyed their lovely home, spending time with family – which was always number one – close friends, and of course, spending time at the beach.  Charlotte volunteered at the Dennis Memorial Public Library for years, enjoying the staff and visitors alike.

Walt and Charlotte had a lot of good times over the years – locations changed, but always central was the two of them – enjoying time with others and sharing volumes with each other through simple, quick glances.

Among so much more, Charlotte’s empathy, easy laugh, strong defense of family, and spontaneous positive energy will be missed deeply by her family and her friends.

Charlotte was predeceased by her daughter Gretchen and her parents Charles and Angelina Iacoboni. She is survived by her beloved and always loving husband Walt; their daughter Lisa (Capone) Nares, her husband Tim Nares, and Walt and Charlotte’s number 1 grandson – Lisa’s son – Slater Marcotte; their son Gregg Capone, his wife Juliet (Baker) Capone, and Walt and Charlotte’s number 1 granddaughter – Audrey Capone.
