Rocco F. Trotto Sr.Shrewsbury – Rocco F. “Rocky” Trotto, Sr., 89, lifelong Shrewsbury resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3, 2023 in his home surrounded his loving family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 69 years, Anne (Prescott) Trotto, in November of 2022.

Rocky leaves his devoted children: John R. Trotto and his wife Kathleen, of Yarmouthport, Rocco F. Trotto, Jr. and his wife Lisa, of Princeton, Francine Shear and her husband Howard, of Worcester, David C. Trotto and his wife Kim, of Osterville, Lee Ann Morse and her husband Ronald, of Shrewsbury, and Timothy J. Trotto, of Livermore, CA and Shrewsbury; his grandchildren: Sarah A. Shear, Lindsey Trotto, Hayley A. Koch and her husband James, Eric Trotto, Nicholas Trotto, Palmer Morse, Rocco J. Trotto, Matthew Trotto, and Tracy Trotto; two great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Audrey; his sister, Nicholina “Nicky” Mastromatteo, of Shrewsbury; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Louis, Frank, Mary Santa Maria, Joseph, Frances Ahern, Matteo, Anthony, Michael, and Marion Sokolowski; and their parents, John and Antoinetta (DiPasquale) Trotto.

Rocky was born, raised, and educated in Shrewsbury, graduating from the Major Howard W. Beal High School. He then received his Associate’s degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.

He enjoyed a lengthy career of almost 70 years working for the family business, Worcester Sand & Gravel, in several capacities. Rocky enjoyed his daily conversations and comradery with his co-workers every day.

Family was everything to Rocky – he always made sure they all participated in activities together, especially apple picking and getting Christmas trees as a family. His grandchildren adored being with Rocky and Anne.

He loved being on the water or the beach, so much so that they enjoyed much of their time at their second home on the Cape. Rocky also loved swimming, and boating at Lewis Bay; his last boat was named “Washed Sand.” He was a member of the Hyannis Yacht Club. Rocky was also an avid skier and bowler.

Rocky held memberships at Tower Hill Botanical Gardens, and the Italian-American Club where he played bocce. He was also a member of the Shrewsbury Men’s Club at the Senior Center.

He knew all the good restaurants in the area, as dining out was a sport for him!

Rocky was a car enthusiast and loved keeping with his car magazines.

He will be remembered for his kind, easy-going nature, and his jovial way of life. Rocky will be greatly missed by all those who cherished his company.

His family would like to extend their appreciation to Mary for her kind care and love shown to Rocco, as well as Luci and the compassionate staff of West River Agency.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Trotto family from 8:30-11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the BRITTON – SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street., followed by a funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be held at Mountain View Cemetery.
