Zhengshen ZhouShrewsbury – Zhengshen Zhou, 84, of Shrewsbury and formerly of Wuhan, China, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, April 9, 2023.

He leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Yanyuan Wang, of Shrewsbury; their children, Ping Zhou, Min Zhou, and Hong Zhou; grandchildren, Wenjun, Hangrui, Tina, and Ben; his loving older brother, Zhengming Zhou; along with several nieces and nephews. Zhengshen was predeceased by his sister, Zhengxin Zhou; and their parents, Fukang Zhou and Xuechuan Zhang.

Zhengshen was a man of many talents and accomplishments. Born in Shanghai in November 1938, he pursued his passion for engineering and earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Beijing. He went on to have a long and illustrious career as an engineer, earning recognition for his groundbreaking work and his insatiable curiosity. He will be remembered as kind, easy-going, and considerate – he loved tasty food and music, especially Teresa Teng’s variety.

Zhengshen will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a gentle soul who lived a quiet and peaceful life, always seeking to make the world a better place in his own way. Whether it was in the moments in which he shared his musical gifts to his grandchildren with his skills in the erhu or his soft humming and singing that he sang into their ears as he rocked them to sleep on his shoulder, his warm and comforting presence will live on in the memories of those who were lucky enough to be recipients of them. He was a comforting presence at many joyous family occasions and private moments of life, and we hope that we will continue to make him proud.

Services will be held privately for the Zhou family. The Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
