WESTBOROUGH – A portion of the Mass. Turnpike between Exit 106 and I-495 has been reduced to one lane because of a brush fire.

Firefighters from Westborough and Southborough are at the scene, along with state police.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

This is the latest in a series of brush fires caused by this week’s dry and windy conditions. Westborough Fire Department asked residents not to burn outside.

“Residents, there are currently multiple fires in Westborough and Northborough,” the Westborough Fire Department wrote on Facebook. “There is also a high demand for EMS in the community. We are moving assents into the area from Norfolk County and Auburn to help us. You may also see smoke in the area.”

Earlier today, the Northborough Police Department cautioned that Smith Road was closed due to a “large” brush fire on Mt. Pisgah. According to the department, multiple fire departments were on scene.
