Jane M. OttavianoShrewsbury/South Dennis – Jane M. (Tod) Ottaviano, 95, a longtime resident of Shrewsbury and South Dennis, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 in the comforts of her home with her family by her side.

Jane was born in Euclid Village, Ohio, one of seven children to the late Thomas and Jane (Kane) Tod who emigrated with the family from Scotland.  She grew up in Worcester where she was a graduate of David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School later moving to Shrewsbury where she has lived for the past 47 years. Jane was a hairdresser for many years, later staying home to raise her five children.  She was a member of St. Mary of the Hills Church in Boylston and in her younger years, she was an avid bowler alongside her husband with West Boylston and Shrewsbury bowling leagues.

Jane’s husband of 64 years, Evangelino “Vangy” Ottaviano passed away on March 26, 2013.  In retirement, Jane and Vangy enjoyed traveling to Italy, Scotland, Nova Scotia, Alaska and Hawaii. She is survived by her five children, Sandra A. Mitchell of Worcester, Jane M. Belanger of Auburn, Michael Ottaviano, Sr. and his wife Patricia of Princeton, Linda J. Willett and her companion Timothy Gibson of Rutland and Paul Ottaviano and his wife Tracy of Shrewsbury; two sisters, her twin, Jean Perry of Worcester and Christina Tinkelenberg of Newton, NC; seventeen grandchildren, Michael (Kathleen), Kellyann (Timothy), Daniel (Lindsey), Amy (Richard), Katy (Robert), John (Kelly), Joshua (Jessica), Jason (Sara), Michael, Jr. (Jennifer), Matthew (Jamie), Thomas (Jessica), Alyssa (partner, Jamie), Donald, Jr. (Samantha), David (partner, Jocelyn), Jacob, RyAnne (Casey) and Regena; twenty eight great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.  Besides her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brother, William Tod; three sisters, Agnes Tod, Catherine Mitchell and Alice Gaudette; two sons-in-law, JohnPaul Belanger and Donald Willett.

There was nothing more important to Jane than her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren cherished her. She enjoyed being surrounded by her extended family during holidays (especially Christmas), family reunions, and Cape Cod vacations. She will be remembered as a kind, generous and supportive mother and grandmother.

Services for Jane will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 with a procession from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester to St. Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross St., Boylston where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial next to her husband will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, April 21st from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
