Westborough Unplugs” will take place from Sunday, April 30, to Saturday, May 6, at various locations throughout town.

Sponsored by Westborough Connects, events will include a hike with the Westborough Community Land Trust on Sunday, April 30, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Gilmore Pond; an afternoon dog-walking event with the humane society; a community bike ride and safety meetup; and “Bookin’ It to Bay State,” a multigenerational community reading event at Bay State Commons on Wednesday, May 3.

The program is Westborough Connects’ annual adaptation of “National Screen Free Week,” and it is designed to get people to “disconnect” from computer and TV screens.

Once this event wraps up, Westborough Connects will team up with Westborough Public Schools, Westborough Library, Westborough Youth and Family Services and the Westborough Rotary Club in a Square One collaborative for a wellness fair on Sunday, May 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Mill Pond Elementary School.

“Spring into Wellness” will be a free, all-ages event that will connect the community with resources supporting mental and behavioral health. The event will include an expo area, free activities (including yoga and mindfulness, therapy dogs, door prizes, light refreshments and giveaways.

There will also be Hope’s Room, an interactive exhibit on the hidden signs of substance use.

“The goal is to reduce the stigma about mental health,” said Kelley Petralia, executive director for Westborough Connects.

For each person who visits the fair up to 50, Dolan & Mahoney Insurance and Thomas Financial Associates will donate $20 to the National Alliance on Mental Illness – up to $1,000.
