NORTHBOROUGH – The Northborough Board of Selectmen have officially changed its name to the Select Board.
Town Meeting approved an article for the name change on April 24.
Specifically, the article authorizes the board to petition the general court for special legislation for the name change.
Assistant Town Administrator Becca Meekins noted that there’s been support for a gender neutral name for their board.
Other local communities have adopted the Select Board name, including Shrewsbury, Westborough, Hudson, Southborough and Grafton.
