Rita M. McFaddenShrewsbury – On April 20th , Rita M. (Bello) McFadden, 74, passed away peacefully in her home following a period of declining health.She was surrounded by her loving family.

Rita leaves her husband of almost 54 years, Robert McFadden Sr., and her five children: Lynda Dagle and her partner Dennis Monahan of Worcester, Robert McFadden Jr. and his wife Michelle of Holden, Brian McFadden of Shrewsbury, Christine LeFrancois and her husband Craig of Worcester, and Tracy Gahagan and her husband, Eric of Newburyport. She also leaves her thirteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Born August 23, 1948, in Worcester, Rita was the daughter of the late John J. Bello Sr., and Josephine C. (Vacca) Bello. She was predeceased by her sister, Carol Carlson, and her brother, John Bello Jr., and is survived by her sister, Barbara Palumbo of Shrewsbury.

Rita’s elementary years were spent at Venerini Academy, and she was a graduate of North High School, both located in Worcester.

In addition to raising five young children and being a full-time homemaker, she somehow found time to volunteer at her children’s schools including being the President of the PTA. She was always there for her kids, no matter what, she never missed anything. As the kids grew older, she reentered the workforce taking on various positions within the retail field including Christmas Tree Shoppe, BJ’s, and Walmart.

Rita had a full life and enjoyed so many things, both big and small. Some of her favorites include, casinos, reading on the beach, flamingos, anything Elvis, and finding the place that serves the best espresso martinis. She was talented in so many ways – she loved to make ceramics and crochet afghans for family and friends. She enjoyed baking cakes and her famous Italian cookies for birthdays, holidays, and other family events.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put her family first. She will be remembered in their thoughts and prayers for as long as they live.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 5-7 P.M. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Those attending the mass are asked to go directly to church.
