Catherine SerrentinoHudson – Catherine (Viscuso) Serrentino, 81, of Hudson, MA, died peacefully on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester.

Catherine leaves her husband of 58 years Philip Serrentino Sr. of Hudson, MA; her son Philip Serrentino Jr. and his wife Paula of Hudson, MA; 2 daughters, Carmela McDowell of Hudson, MA and Marianne Barese and her husband Al of Hudson, MA. She also leaves her 9 grandchildren, Elizabeth Camara, Michelle Schlesinger, Brandon McDowell, Johnathan McDowell, Stephanie McDowell, Michael McDowell, Thomas Fitzsimmons, Philip Fitzsimmons, Ryan Fitzsimmons; her great grandchildren Dominic Camara, Christian Camara and Julian Schlesinger along with nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her 2 brothers, Joseph Puglisi and Felix Puglisi.

Catherine was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late John and Marianna (Rando) Viscuso. The family moved to Waltham when she was 16 and she was a graduate of Waltham High School. Catherine resided in Waltham until 2003 when she moved to Hudson to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was employed for 28 years by the Raytheon Corp. working  in Waltham, MA as a clerk until she retired in 1990.

Catherine had many interests throughout her life which included playing bingo, bowling at the Wal-Lex in Waltham with friends and trips to the casino with her husband and close friends. She began her second career of caring for her grandchildren immediately following her retirement which she cherished and enjoyed. Family was the passion in her life. She always had Sunday dinners, Wednesday soup nights, they were always a ritual for the whole family to enjoy. She loved to gather with her family and friends as often as she could.  She enjoyed traveling and always looked forward to a relaxing ocean cruise, Italy, Venezuela to visit family and they were always memorable getaways. She was very proud of her Brooklyn roots and never one to keep that to herself. She will forever be remembered for her kind and giving spirit by all who loved and knew her.

A funeral service and celebration of Catherine’s life will be held at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 1:00PM. Family and friends may attend a period of visitation from 111:00 AM to 1:00PM prior to the service. Procession will follow to Forestvale Cemetery, Broad Street, Hudson, MA for committal services.
