Chamber to honor local businesses
Steve Messineo is the new chair of the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors.

MARLBOROUGH — The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce will kick off the celebration of its 99th anniversary when it bestows its Annual Business Awards on Thursday, May 4, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Courtyard Boston Marlborough.

“An Evening with a Galaxy of Stars” will feature special guest appearances along with the celebration of award nominees and winners and member anniversaries.

“The nominees this year will include chamber members who have special significance due to the impact of their work on the business community as well as giving back to the region” said Steve Messineo, president and CEO at MRCC. “We will honor all nominees and winners of these prestigious awards, along with member anniversaries and invited community guests.”

The nominees for the business awards are:

Business of the Year: Walker Development & Construction Management, Park Place Technologies, Main Street Bank, Kennedy’s Irish Pub, Apex Entertainment and St. Mary’s Credit Union.

Small Business of the Year: Infusion Art Glass, Cida’s Cleaning Services, Duck Soup, Trombetta’s Farm and Adesso Associates LLC.

Business Person of the Year: Mike Traiforos (Dairy Queen), Ana Varela (Zarape), A.J. Maini (Maini Partners/Unravel Labs), John Rowe (Short & Rowe Funeral Home) and Catherine Dressel (Barnum Financial Group).

Entrepreneur of the Year: Steve Uliss (Firefly’s BBQ), Michael Lawson (Chick-fil-A), Michelle Grasso (Synergy Wellness Center), Chris Shea (BPS Financial Services) and Eloa Celedon (Celedon Law)

Ann Scott Community Service Award: Chris Duane (Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest), Tom Woelper (New England Innovation), Ryan Malyar (Marlborough Cable Trust — WMCT-TV), Gabriele Luzzi (Berkshire Hathaway), Bob Kays (Prospector East Saloon) and Regina Wolf Fritz (Better Day Adult Social Day Program)

Larger Organizations Leadership Award: Boston Scientific, Cytiva, Hologic, Sunovion Pharmaceuticals Inc., National Grid, Verizon and UMass Memorial Health-Marlborough Hospital
