REGION – Welcome to the first weekend of May. Here are some of the local events happening this weekend.

Chat with General Artemas and Sarah Ward

The community is invited to attend a presentation at the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury to meet General Artemas and Sarah Ward on May 7 at the church at 11 a.m. The presentation is by Jim and Marcia Smith who are longtime church members.

ArtsFest Hudson 

The annual arts festival will take place on Saturday, May 6, from noon to 5 p.m. along Main Street. This event features local arts and craft vendors; live performances and entertainment, including classic rock, world music, magicians and princess appearances; and art-making activities for all ages, including a community art project. Local concerts

Throughout this weekend there are several concerts taking place.

The Northborough Area Community Chorus will be performing “That ‘70s Show and More!” at Algonquin Regional High School at 3 p.m. 

The Westborough Community Chorus will be performing “British Beats” at Gibbons Middle School at 7:30 p.m. May 6 and 2 p.m. May 7. 

Central Massachusetts Connections in Faith and the Westborough Interfaith Clergy announce the return of the popular Faiths in Tune music festival on Sunday, May 7, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Bay State Commons.

Free Comic Book Day

Stop by the Grafton Public Library on Saturday, May 6, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to pick up your free comic book in celebration of Free Comic Book Day. Comics will be available while supplies last. Spring into Wellness

On Sunday, May 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Mill Pond Elementary School, Westborough, come to a free community wellness fair for all ages. There will be therapy dogs, activities, door prizes and light refreshments. There will also be an opportunity to visit with several local resource exhibitors, and to visit Hope’s Room, an interactive exhibit on the hidden signs of substance abuse.
