WESTBOROUGH – Starting this month, the Friends of the Westborough Public Library will be hosting outside book sales on the second Saturday of each month through October. The sales will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or if rain moves the sale inside, from 9:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. (changes will be posted on the library website).

Mark your calendar with these dates: May 13, June 10, July 8, Aug. 12, Sept. 9, and Oct. 14.

Generous donations from the community allow for completely new inventory each month. In addition to many categories of books for adults, teens, and children, CDs, DVDs and some audiobooks also will be offered.

Pricing for the sale is as follows:

  • Hardcover books are $2 each
  • Paperbacks are $1
  • CDs and DVDs are 2/$1
  • All children’s items are 50 cents

At the end of the sale, bags are supplied for the popular “fill a bag for $5” near the end of the sale. Cash and checks are accepted as payment.

All proceeds from these book sales fund library programs not covered in the town budget.

These programs include museum passes available to card holders, teen reading and study programs, children’s activities, adult guest speaker programs and Screen on the Green.

Book and media donations are accepted in bags, boxes or can be deposited in the red bins inside the Parkman Street entrance during library hours. VHS tapes, textbooks or books that are in poor condition cannot be accepted.
