Hudson – Filomena P. (Chaves) Cabral, 93, of Hudson, MA, died on Monday, May 15, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel J. Cabral who died in 2011.
Filomena is survived by her children, Jose Cabral and his partner Maria Carvalho of Hudson, MA, Luis Cabral of Holliston, MA, Maria Griffin and her husband Paul of Framingham, MA, Genoveva Garcia of Clinton, MA and Zelia Chaves and her husband Paulo of Hudson, MA. She was predeceased by her son Antonio Cabral. Filomena also leaves her 12 grandchildren Lisa Neu, Paula Palermo, Paul Cabral, Angela Azevedo, Michael Cabral, James Colley, Kelly Soares, Christina Cabral, Gennifer Santos, Felicia Soares, Amanda Sowa, and Samantha Chaves; 21 great grandchildren along with other relatives and friends.
Filomena was born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores, Portugal, daughter of the late Jose Felix and Maria Chaves. She immigrated to the United States in 1968 settling in Hudson, MA. She was employed by the Thomas Taylor Company in Hudson for many years. She was a member of Saint Michael Parish in Hudson, MA.
Filomena was truly dedicated to her family. Her passion was cooking and preparing many dishes for all to enjoy. She loved spending time with her family, especially caring for her 12 grandchildren and later her 21 great grandchildren. Friday was always a special day to all of them as Filomena would spend the day baking her “Friday Breads”, a tradition that was never taken for granted. She enjoyed many hobbies and interests in her spare time and cherished her annual summer trips back to Santa Maria to visit family and friends. She will always be remembered for her unique loving and caring spirit, her devotion to the ones she loved and the laughter they all shared.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 8:00 AM to 10:15 AM on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street, Marlborough, MA; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery, Cox Street in Hudson for Committal Services.
