Phyllis A. CainMarlborough – Phyllis Ann Cain (Litchfield) was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on May 30th, 2023, surrounded by her children at the age of 90 after long medical battles. She was a fighter to the very end.

Phyllis was born to Harold and Loretta Litchfield on April 11th, 1933, in Marlboro, Mass. After graduation from Marlboro High School, she married Richard (Dick) Leon Cain. Phyllis met Dick at Lyonhurst Roller Rink in Marlboro, he was shy, the romance took a while to develop.  Phyllis and Dick went on to have four children: Patrick, Debra, Mary, and Susan; eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. They purchased then expanded their starter home on Ewald Ave several times to accommodate the growing family. Phyllis ‘snow birded’ with her mother and brother in Wildwood RV Park, Florida before finally settling in with her brother on Fort Meadow Lake.

Phyllis was predeceased by Dick. She is survived by her brother Harold (Billy), and her children Patrick (Annmarie Hurley), Debra (Bob Bourgeois), Mary (Mark Deptula), and Susan (Patrick MacDonald). After the early passing of her beloved Dick, she traveled the US and the world to visit her children and grandchildren.

Phyllis loved camping, kayaking, watching her children and grandchildren frolic in the lake, rides on a motorcycle, a good laugh (even those at her expense), wintering in Florida with her fellow snowbirds, crocheting, knitting, sewing and crafts.

Visiting hours will be held Monday June 5, 2023, from 5-7PM at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant Street, Marlborough, MA 01752. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 10:00AM at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.

She was quick to remind you “anything you can do, I can do better”, reminding us that she was a warrior through all of her life and health battles.

Mom, you will be missed.
