Jim was born in Marlborough on January 14, 1941, to John and Gladys (Hudson) Kittredge.
Jim and Cathy first met at a restaurant in Marlborough where Cathy was working as a waitress. He caught her eye and ultimately captured her heart by leaving a dime as a tip. It was that quick wit and funny sense of humor that Cathy instantly fell in love with. Jim and Cathy were married on November 7, 1975,and had a long, happy, and successful marriage.
A genuinely self-made man, Jim had a strong work ethic and forged a career as a machinist that led to co-owing a thriving business with his brother Jack. Together they grew J. Kittredge and Sons precision machine shop, aluminum brazing, and engineering into a successful family business. Through his lifelong career and hard work, he met many people and created many long-term friendships.
Jim was affectionally known as Captain Jim and Bampy. He enjoyed fishing, boating, driving his corvette, gardening, and especially had a passion for maintaining his lawn. Jim particularly loved spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He looked forward to family parties, cookouts, and sharing laughs and stories of their adventures. He was an outgoing, caring spirit who always had a smile and was the life of the party.
Jim will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.
