Carol A. RoseenGrafton – Carol A. (Dostoler) Roseen, 80, passed away July 9, 2023 at UMass Memorial in Worcester following a lengthy illness.

She leaves her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Paul Roseen, her children Paula Roseen, Pamela Lucas and her husband Robert, and Michael Roseen and his wife Gina, her grandchildren Matthew Roseen, Robert and Abigail Lucas, and Alexander, Catherine, and Andrew Roseen who will dearly miss their beloved “Grammie”, her half-siblings Kenneth, Dennis, Michael, Michelle, and Sharon, and several cousins.

Carol was born December 24, 1942 in Auburn, MA. She was raised in Auburn by her mother, Irene B. Dostoler and her maternal grandparents, Frances and Chester Janowski. Carol was a graduate of Auburn High School and Broms Academy. She worked as a hairdresser for several years.

Carol and Paul lived in Ashland before they bought their home in North Grafton, on Airport Road, where they lived happily for many years. Carol loved her family most of all, especially her grandchildren.

Community and helping others were also important to Carol. She worked for many years at the North Grafton Elementary School, first as a teacher’s aide, then as the school librarian. Carol then had the opportunity to stay home with her grandchildren where she enjoyed watching them swim in the pool and attended many of their activities throughout the years. Later in life, she worked the election polls in Grafton and volunteered at the Nelson Library in North Grafton, which provided yet another opportunity to help children, which was a gift she shared throughout her life.

Away from home, the seashore in Maine on Wells Beach was the place that gave her the most joy and peace; she was always looking forward to trips there with Paul and her family. If you knew Carol, there was a good chance you came to appreciate her warmth and bright smile, which she shared joyfully with all.

Her family would like to express their thanks to the compassionate care teams of doctors, nurses and PCA’s at both the Lake Avenue and Belmont St. campuses of UMass Memorial. Carol’s family would also like to express their thanks for the wonderful care she received from her primary care physicians, nurses, and staff at the Millbury Internal Medicine office. Her family is particularly grateful to her longtime physician, Dr. Anila Medina, who visited Carol during her hospital stay.

All are welcome to gather with Carol’s family and friends at the celebration of her Funeral Mass, Saturday, July 15th at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church, 17 Waterville St., N. Grafton, MA 01536. There are no public calling hours and burial will be private at a later date.
