Five ways to beat the heat this weekend

REGION – After a hot week, temperatures are expected to be in the upper 80s on Saturday. We’ve collected a couple of ways to beat the heat and stay cool this weekend.

Splash pads

Assabet Park, Northborough, Route 135. This weekend, the splash pad is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Ghiloni Park, Marlborough, 239 Concord Road. In Marlborough, the splash pads are open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Stevens Park, Marlborough, 10 Martin Street. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Local beaches

WWII Memorial Beach, Marlborough. The beach opened for the season in June. Public Swimming hours are from 11 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. daily. The parking lot opens at 10:45 a.m. The beach is free for Marlborough residents, and a $20 parking fee for non-residents.

Centennial Beach, Hudson. The beach is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The daily parking pass for residents costs $10 and $20 for non-residents. Passes are sold at the beach.

Movie Matinee

Saturday, July 29, 2 p.m., Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main St. Come for a free showing of “Ticket to Paradise” with George Clooney and Julia Roberts. No registration required.

Slime Lab

Saturday, July 29, 2:30 to 4 p.m., Grafton Public Library, 35 Grafton Common. Join us for a hands-on slime lab where you can make your very own slime. We will provide all the necessary supplies and guide children through the process step by step, ensuring a safe and fun experience for everyone. Kids will love experimenting with different colors and textures as they create their own unique slime creations. The best part? They get to take their slime creations home with them to continue the fun and exploration.

Drop in. Grades K-5.

“Descendants: The Musical”

Saturday, July 29, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Summer Performing Arts Collaborative will be presenting the musical at the Paul “Skip” Johnson auditorium at Hudson high School. Tickets cost $12 for adults and $10 for students, children and seniors and will be sold at the door.
