K-9 units, drone help locate missing man in Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY – With help from local K-9 units and a drone, the Shrewsbury Police Department was able to locate a missing man.

On Tuesday, Aug. 1, around 1:18 p.m., police received a call from the Oak
Street area, reporting that a 25-year-old man was missing and possibly in distress. According to a press release from the department, multiple Shrewsbury officers responded and began searching the area.

Additional assistance was requested for the search; K-9 units from Auburn and Charlton were called in, and the Worcester County House of Correction Drone Unit also responded.

At approximately 2:10 p.m.,  K-9 Biza located him in a wooded area. The man was provided assistance, and was transported to UMass Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

The police department thanked the Charlton police, Auburn police and the Worcester County House of Correction for their quick response and assistance.
