Marlborough – Russell V. Fraleigh, 93, of Marlborough, formerly of Shrewsbury and Sudbury, died on Friday, September 1, 2023 at UMass Memorial Hospital in Marlborough. He was the beloved husband of Jill (Kelley) Fraleigh for 70 years.
Russell was born on July 31, 1930, in Hudson, New York, son of the late Russell H. and Pearl (Duntz) Fraleigh. He was raised and educated in Clermont, New York and graduated from Red Hook Central High School. Russell served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1947-1951 before going on to receive his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1954. He then worked at Raytheon for 38 years until his retirement in 1992. Russell was also a certified financial planner and a licensed real estate broker.
For many years Russell served as Quartermaster for the Lt. Scott Milley VFW Post 8771. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Retired Men’s Association, and the Retired Men’s Club of Greendale. He enjoyed touring the United States, Canada and Europe with his wife, sailing, auditing courses at local colleges, and taking walks on the Rail Trail with his son, David.
In addition to his wife, Russell is survived by his son Steven Fraleigh and his wife Alice of North Andover, his daughter Jane Fraleigh of Marlborough, his brother Jon Fraleigh of Trenton, New Jersey, his sister Jane Meredith and her husband William of Albany, New York, his sister-in-law Pamela Kelley of Manchester, New Hampshire, and his grandsons Christopher and Mark Fraleigh. He is also survived by his nephews, several extended family members, and many beloved friends. Russell was predeceased by his son David Fraleigh in 2019.
A private graveside service will take place at the New Town Cemetery in Sudbury.
