Marlborough – Richard A. Padula 90 of Marlborough died Sunday, September 3, 2023, in the Beaumont at The Willows, Westborough, MA.
Richard was born in Marlborough, MA, the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Carney) Padula.
He was a Korean War US Navy Veteran and served aboard the USS Wasp. Richard was very proud of his service to his country and was a member of the American Legion and ITAM Post 45 for 20 years. He also served as a trustee for ITAM Post 45.
He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Worcester State College. He was a Middle School US History Teacher in Stow for 28 years retiring in 1988.
He was an avid reader and loved to watch all the New England sports teams.
Richard was predeceased by his wife of 44 years in 2005 and by his sister Joanne.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Rebecca Wainwright of Marlborough, and Jennifer Padula of Shrewsbury. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Padula, 3 grandchildren Justin Wainwright, and Joshua and Connor Padula, and 3 great grandchildren Rose, Micah, and Brooke Wainwright.
Following the funeral service for Richard, all are invited to join the family at the Italian American Veteran’s Post 45 on 111 Neil Street in Marlborough, MA at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2023, for a celebration of Richards life.
A private burial with Military Honors will be held.
