Grafton/Shrewsbury – Jeannette Anna (Bartlett) Warwick Laflash passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023, at the age of 101, at Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Shrewsbury. She was born in a farmhouse in Mendon on January 7, 1922 to the late Bella (Champagne) and Joseph Bartlett.
Jeannette lived for many years in North Grafton with her first husband, John Warwick, and her second husband, Clarence Laflash, who both predeceased her.
Jeannette leaves behind two loving sons, John Warwick and his wife Kathleen of Shrewsbury and Wayne Warwick and his wife Paulette of North Grafton; stepdaughter Arlene Murray and her husband George of Northbridge; three grandchildren, Brett Warwick of North Grafton, Brian Warwick and his wife Ashley of Bethlehem, New Hampshire, and Katie Warwick Johnson of Farmingdale, Maine; and one great-grandchild, Isaac Johnson of Farmingdale, Maine. She will be missed by her many step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews as well. She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Bartlett and Nelson Bartlett; a sister, Gloria Mainville; and stepdaughter Suzanne Cronin and her husband Richard.
Jeannette graduated from Northbridge High School and Becker Junior College. She lived in Uxbridge and Whitinsville before moving to North Grafton.
She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the former Whitin Machine Works, Webber Fuel, the Superintendent of Grafton Schools, and the Grafton Suburban Credit Union. Jeannette also worked as a county reporter for the Telegram & Gazette. In North Grafton, Jeannette was a member of the former St. Mary’s Women’s Club, a Cub Scout den leader, and a member of the Grafton Parent-Teacher Association.
She loved knitting, crocheting, making braided rugs, and painting. She was especially proud of painting and stenciling her bedroom set to resemble Hitchcock furniture. She traveled extensively with both of her husbands. With her husband Clarence she sang with the Messengers, a gospel singing group. She also performed in many shows and concerts while spending winters in Naples, Florida and at Southgate at Shrewsbury.
All are welcome to gather with Jeannette’s family and friends Saturday, October 14th from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester Street, North Grafton, followed by a funeral mass at 11:30 am at St. Mary’s Parish, 17 Waterville Street, North Grafton. Jeannette will then be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery.
