Northborough/Barre, VT – Gloria Jean Huston beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 79 years old.
Born in Vershire, Vermont, Gloria was the youngest of eight children to Hugh B. and Claudia (Button) O’Donnell. She was a 1962 graduate of Orford High School, and she eventually went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from Quinsigamond College. For 23 years she was employed as a buyer for Digital and Hewett Packard.
Gloria began raising her family in Barre, VT. In 1972, she relocated her family to Northborough where she would reside for most of her life. After the death of her husband, Roy Huston, in 2005, Gloria moved to Bradford, Vermont, where she and her companion Richard enjoyed fifteen years of friendship together. This past Spring Gloria returned to Massachusetts to be nearer to her beloved family. Gloria enjoyed word search puzzles, reading a good mystery novel, and bird watching from her back deck. Most of all, she enjoyed her family and being a grandmother. Her family will remember Gloria’s supportive nature and sense of humor; her laughter was truly infectious to all who were lucky enough to experience it.
Among those surviving Gloria are her son, Bruce Morey and his wife Lisa of Burlington, and her daughter Bonnie Bigelow and her husband Timothy of Auburn. She also leaves her children, Ronald Peoples and his wife Amy Novins of Worcester, Donald Peoples and his wife Bonnie of Shrewsbury and Michelle Crable and her husband John of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Jessica Morey, Ryan Morey, Dylan Bigelow and his wife Tanya, Lucas Bigelow, Timothy Bigelow, Jr, Jennie Lombardo and her husband Steve, Kyle Peoples, Austin Crable and his wife Saylor, Alleyna Crable and her husband Connor Sullivan, and many nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her seven siblings, Hugh O’Donnell, Jr, Leo O’Donnell, James O’Donnell, Elsie Ciley, Edith Parker, Mabel Pushee and Lois Covey.
A visitation will be held between 9:30 – 10:30am on Thursday, November 2, at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St, Northborough. Gloria’s funeral will immediately follow in the funeral home at 10:30am with burial in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
