Grafton – Arthur Francis Marando, 81, passed away surrounded by family, on Friday morning, December 1, 2023 of complications from a long illness.
Arthur was born and raised in South Grafton, Massachusetts, and lived in the town his entire life. He was the son of the late Arthur H. Marando and Louise H. (Rybak) Marando. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas D. Marando and a grandson David Hemingway.
Arthur leaves his wife Linda (Adams) Marando and his sister Ilene Marando both of Grafton. He leaves his children David and his wife Angela, his daughter Cheryl and her husband Dave Woskie, and his daughter Beth and her husband David Patulak. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Matthew, Anthony, David, and Dylan.
Arthur graduated from Grafton High School in 1960 where he played football. He worked with his father and brother in the family milk hauling and trucking business A.H. Marando and Sons. In addition, he worked for many years with his son, daughters, wife, brother, and father in various family-owned dairy farms. Arthur ran a dairy farm in various locations for over 60 years. He owned and operated the Maplewood Dairy Farm in South Grafton for 30 years which was the last working dairy farm in the town of Grafton.
Besides farming, he was a volunteer fireman for the Grafton Fire Department in his younger days. He was a member of Saint James Church in South Grafton where he taught CCD for many years. Later in life, he drove a school bus for Blackstone Valley Technical High School. He loved driving the bus and spending time with the kids as he brought them to school and various activities.
