Jeffrey L. Chapman, 72, of Marlborough

Jeffrey L. ChapmanMarlborough – Jeffrey “Jeff” L. Chapman 72 of Marlborough peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, December 8, 2023 in Brigham & Woman’s Hospital, Boston, MA after a 9 weeklong stay in the Medical ICU where he won over the hearts of all his nurses and doctors.

Jeff was born in Amityville, NY, the son of the late Edward S. and Mary C. (Longfield) Chapman.

Most people will know Jeff from his lifelong love of Music and his performances with so many different bands since he was a teenager. He has played at Parades, Benefits, Summer Concerts, Baseball Games, Festivals, Night Clubs, Weddings, on Cruises, and more recently in Nursing Homes. He started out with the band “Chickweed” in the late 60’s early 70’s; followed by “The Headliners” (1979-1997); “Sweet Tooth Rhythm & Blues” (1997-2000); “The Mason Tyler Trio” (2001-2017); “BlueVue” (2013); and lastly “Flashback Band Marlboro” and “The Romeos” since 2009. That does not include all of the other bands he has filled in with or jammed with as an honorary member over the years. He had recently learned that he was included as part of the Fenway Family after having performed on Yawkey Way/Jersey Street before the Red Sox took the field a total of 57 times.

He worked as a Technician for Bose for over 33 years, single handedly creating their Customer Service Dept and making manuals for servicing their equipment before retiring from there in 2008. He then started work at EMC as a trainer and remained there until he received his Pulmonary Fibrosis Diagnosis and had his Lung Transplant. He was then forced to completely retire from working.

Nothing was more important to Jeff than his family, and he showed it every day. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Karen (Moffa) Chapman, 4 children: Kara L. Beane and her husband Gary, Korie L. Crossman and her husband Adam, Katie M. Milton and her husband Justin all of Marlborough, and Jamie S. Chapman and his wife Shawna of IN; 10 grandchildren: Tyler Chapman, Gavin Beane, Anthony Milton, Isabella Beane, Faith Milton, Julia Chapman, Lexie Milton, Olivia Crossman, Jacob Chapman, Tessa Crossman; 6 step grandchildren: Andrew, Alex, Lorianne, Lucas, Emily, & Owen; 4 step great grandchildren, 2 brothers Edward Chapman of WI and Henry (Monty) Chapman of Framingham, and several sister/brother in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
