Northborough – Pauline G. Cleary, 99, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2023.
She was the beloved mother to her three children, John Carey and his wife Maryjayne of Southborough, Edward Cleary, III and his longtime companion Rosemary Gicheru of Northborough and Beverly Ann Potter and her husband Edward of Cape Coral, FL; loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Mellissa Rearick, Sandra Papadopoulos, Debra Cardillo, John Carey, Edward Cleary IV, Chuck Potter and Amy Mangrum and 12 great-grandchildren. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Edward D. Cleary, Jr; two grandsons, Jason Cleary and Daniel Potter and her three siblings, Edward and Phillip Jeffries and Dorothy Belk.
Pauline was born and raised in Worcester, one of four children to Edward and Pauline (Lamson) Jeffries. As a devoted mother, Pauline dedicated her early life to the raising of and providing for her children. She proudly maintained her home and focused on guiding her children to become responsible adults.
In her later years Pauline is fondly remembered for her 35 years of dedicated service as a cook and waitress at the former Gendron’s Bakery of Northborough and Westborough, retiring at age 70. She was a longtime member of Rice Baptist Church and looked forward to spending time with her beloved family.
A time of visitation will be held between 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. Her funeral will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Pauline will be laid to rest in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
