Shrewsbury – Frances L. (Stachura)” Fran” Fortier, 82, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Worcester after an illness.
Frances was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Francis and Alma (Baribeau) Stachura and raised in Shrewsbury where she attended Shrewsbury Schools. Fran later met and married the love of her life, Herbert L. “Bucky” Fortier of Shrewsbury, and spent the next fifty-five years together raising their family in Shrewsbury before he died in 2014.
Fran had worked as a customer service rep and sales clerk at the former Caldor Department Store before retiring. She and her husband loved spending time in the State of Maine, so much that they purchased a vacation home and spent many summers with their family enjoying living by the sea. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and keeping up with their activities.
Fran leaves her children, her son, Russell Fortier, and a daughter, Debra (Fortier) Picard both of Shrewsbury, four grandchildren, Nicole and Tiffany George, and Michael and Michelle Fortier; as well as four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a sister, Barbara Tivnan of Worcester. She was predeceased by a son, Paul F. Fortier who passed in 2018; and two brothers, Stanley Stachura and James Laplume.
Fran will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Memorial donations in Fran’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://act.alz.org/).
