Marlborough – George McDonald Hall, Jr., 92, peacefully passed away on Saturday April 27 at his home at New Horizons Assisted Living in Marlboro, Massachusetts. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Loretta Ann Hall (nee Wohlfart).

He was deeply loved by his children, nephew, and sister-in-law and their families: Andrew Hall and Suzanne Thomas, Victor Gonzalez and Summer Thomas and Sofia all of Florida, Georgia Hall and Charissa Ahlstrom, and Kyle, Jordyn, and Tory along with Tucker Ahlers all of Massachusetts and Susan Steeve (nee Wohlfart), Justin Steeve, Grace Trimble, and Robin, of New York.

George was born in Birmingham, Alabama on May 9, 1931, to George McDonald Hall, Sr. and Cordie Rilla Hall (nee Parker). He graduated from Queens College in New York in 1954 and reported to the U.S. Army at Fort Lee, Virginia for two years of service.

It was in Queens College that George by chance met Loretta when she enrolled in his Spanish Class which happened to have one empty seat next to him. After a badminton match and a pizza, they began a life-long friendship and marriage.

On leave from the Army in December 1954, George married Loretta and following his discharge they both began careers in education. George first worked as a Reading Specialist in Hempstead Public Schools in New York then worked as an Elementary Assistant Principal, Junior High Assistant Principal, and Junior High Principal in Uniondale Public Schools. After retirement George enjoyed extensive travel with Loretta and long vacations in Falmouth, Cape Cod, and winter residence in Naples, Florida.

George was a passionate sports fan and athlete. He proudly played Second Base at Queens College and was a Uniondale Little League Baseball Coach and Grace Lutheran Church Basketball Coach. George tremendously enjoyed rooting for his children and grandchildren at all their sporting events.

George was very involved in his church community at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniondale serving as Sunday School Director, Council Member, Member of Bible Study and Men’s Fellowship. His church community and faith were a source of meaningful and long lasting relationships and support.

George treasured the friendships and company of neighbors in Melville, NY; Berlin, MA; and Naples, Florida. George was a happy, gentle, and grateful retiree for 38 years and lived a rewarding and fulfilling life.
