Marlborough – Ann C. (Murphy) May, 79, of Marlborough died Tuesday May 21, 2024 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the wife of Robert F. May for the past 54 years.
She was born in Lynn, the daughter of the late John P. and Katherine V. (Kehoe) Murphy and was a graduate of St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg Class of 1963. She went to graduate from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Lowell and became a registered nurse. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Framingham State University and her Master’s degree in Administer of Healthcare From Framingham State University.
Ann began her career in nursing with New England Deaconess Hospital and went on to work at Emerson Hospital in Concord for 3 years, Cushing Hospital in Framingham for more than ten years and finished her long dedicated career in healthcare at Marlborough Public Schools where she worked for over twenty years retiring as the Head Nurse in 2008.
Ann has received several at her time working in public school. Awards are the following, Horace Mann Teacher 1988-1989, Marlborough Educators Association Friend of Education Award and Massachusetts School Nurse Administrator of the year 2008. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church in Southborough.
She loved to travel and visited all fifty states as well as most of Europe. Her adventurous spirit took her to all seven continents. She had a passion for shopping, often finding joy in picking out special gifts for her family and friends. She will be remembered as a caring, kind, and loving woman, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
She leaves her loving husband Robert F. May of Marlborough; two sons, Michael and Steven May both of Marlborough; a brother Gerald Murphy of Salem; two nephews, Joshua Murphy of Johannesburg, South Africa and Eathan Murphy of Wilder, Vermont; several dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday May 29 at 11:00 AM in St. Anne Church, 20 Boston Road, Southborough. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Beach Street, Marlborough. Calling hours will be held Tuesday May 28 from 6-8 PM in the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
