Shrewsbury – Ronald G. “Ron” Sanguinet, 86, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. He was born in Shrewsbury, the son of Roland and Marie Sanguinet.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Brenda J. Sanguinet; their two daughters, Mary and Jean Sanguinet; his three grandchildren, Holly, Joshua, and Emily Joubert; his great grandchild Tanner Erickson; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ron is predeceased by his mother Marie, father Roland, and his sister Suzanne Singer.
Ronald was raised in Edgemere in Shrewsbury, attended Shrewsbury Public schools and went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force where he was trained as a Photo Intelligence Specialist. While being in the Air Force, he took up playing football. He was honorably discharged after seven years of serving, in May 1963. In August 1964, he married the love of his life, Brenda. They started their family in Grafton, MA and eventually moved to Shrewsbury. He then went on to work at Raytheon Company for 32 years as an industrial engineer. During his career at Raytheon, Ron had several roles including Production Manager, Technical Liaison and Program Manager for Japan Programs. Two of these years brought Ron and his family to live in Japan. He concluded his career in 1999 retiring early. Ron was an active member in the Shrewsbury community. He was Grand Marshal of Shrewsbury Spirit Parade in 2005, Senior Greeter at Shrewsbury High School, was part of the men’s club at the Senior Center, and was an active member of the St. Mary’s Parish. Ron loved being with his wife and family making memories whether it was at the Cape in the Summer, going on his boat in Rhode Island, or going up to New Hampshire. He also loved sailing, and eventually went on to donate his sailboat to the Regatta Center in Worcester. When he wasn’t on the water, you could find him playing on his computer with his aviation simulator, reading, feeding and watching the birds, and playing or watching golf.
Per Ron’s family’s wishes, visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury on Friday, May 31st from 10 – 11:30 am, with Mass to follow at noon. Burial will be held privately.
